The following notes refer to the use of the species of this plant, L. apiculata, in traditional medicine. Luma apiculata (DC.) Burret is used by Mapuche people as an antiasthmatic, antidiarrheal, and antiseptic. Interestingly, the cortex of this plant is boiled and used as an antiseptic in washes described to treat wounds and ulcerations.
