Revive terminally ill (Cherokee, Meskwaki). Male urinary problems (Iroquois). Headache caused by eye strain (Menomini). Root decoctions for convulsions (Ojibwa). Decoction of roots with spruce (Abies) for gastric problems (Cree?). Also as an emetic and purgative.
